You’ve seen the pictures. The candle is lit, the leather journal is open, there’s a steaming mug of something artisanal, and the Bible is covered in color-coded tabs. There’s an hour or two of peaceful worship before anyone else in the house is awake.

And then there’s real life.

There was a season when I taught piano outside the home and had to be out the door at a very specific time every morning. My quiet time was a quick prayer while my coffee brewed, a Bible verse on my phone while the car warmed up, and sometimes a prayer at a stoplight on the way to work. And I carried real guilt about it, as if I were somehow doing this whole thing wrong.

Can you relate?

In this episode, I’m talking honestly about morning routines. This isn’t the glossy, highlight-reel version. It’s what a morning with God is actually for. A spiritual morning routine isn’t about creating the perfect environment so God can finally show up. He’s already there: in your kitchen, in the school pickup line, and in the car at 7:15 a.m.

We talk about:

  • How spiritual disciplines can quietly turn into performance and striving
  • Why a morning routine is about turning your attention toward God, not earning His presence
  • What my mornings look like in this season, and why I’ve started praying for myself, not just everyone else
  • Encouragement for the mom whose mornings are loud, rushed, and interrupted
  • How comparison distorts what faithfulness really looks like
  • Practical ideas for every season, because small and consistent beats perfect and sporadic

Whether you have an hour in the Word or five minutes before little feet come running, God isn’t measuring your morning. He’s meeting you in it.

So stop asking what faithfulness is supposed to look like, and start asking Him what it looks like for you, right now.
