What do you do when the hardest season of your life arrives while you’re still raising little ones?

Jenna Schutt knows that question better than most. As a former cardiac nurse, she spent years caring for other people’s hearts. Then her own body threw her the hardest curveball of her life. Jenna went through years of chemo, long hospital stays, and a stem cell transplant, all while raising and homeschooling her two young boys.

Today, Jenna is a survivor, speaker, and writer. Through her ministry, Faith with Jenna, she helps women choose God’s truth over fear. She’s also writing a book, The Joy Reflex™, built on a powerful idea: joy isn’t something that just happens to you. It’s something you can actually train yourself toward, even in the middle of hard seasons.

In this episode, Jenna and I talk about:

  • What homeschooling really looked like through chemo and hospital stays
  • What her boys learned from watching her lose her hair and grow it back
  • How joy can become second nature instead of your last resort

If you’re walking through something heavy right now, whether it’s illness, grief, or a season that just feels like too much, Jenna’s story is a reminder that you don’t have to see the whole road ahead. Her advice is simple and so freeing: forget the whole staircase and just take the next step.
